“Italian Genealogical Evidence Practicum”
Melanie D. Holtz, CG
1–8 October 2016
Standard $69.99
Plus $99.99
Sometimes an Italian “brick wall” can be resolved by understanding the history behind the records, the laws that affected them, and by through careful evaluation of the evidence and information contained within the records. This course is meant for those who have some experience in Italian genealogy and wish to take their skills to the next level.
Students will work on two complicated case studies through which they will gain experience in researching complex problems, evaluating the evidence within the records, analyzing and correlating the information against other evidence, and putting the evidence into a written compilation. We will also learn how to take this information and create a “next steps” research plan. Students will have a reading assignment before class begins and will be required to evaluate the research problems and review the documents that will be presented. Class participation is an important part of this course and will enhance the educational process.
